College Media Search Engines

On October 5, 2009, in Uncategorized, by Ben

Looking to see what The Campus Buzz is across the country?  TCB is proud to introduce it’s Free College Media Search Engines.

Last week, we posted that our previously released College Media Website Search indexed over 1,400+ websites.  After further review we noticed that Google was indexing duplicate sites.  We have made a thorough comb through the duplicates and can accurately say that there are over 800 sites being indexed with the search.

Picture 2We have also created the College Media on Twitter Search Engine.  This new search engine indexes over 180 twitter profiles of official college media publications.

Google has also made it possible for you to customize these widgets, grab the code and install them on your website.

On September 21, 2009, in Uncategorized, by Ben

Each day we try to improve our service and provide our subscribers with wonderful new features.  Here are the latest two installments:

College Media Search Engine

Picture 1Located in the right-hand side bar you will find our google search widget (in blue) that indexes over 1,500 800 college media websites (Correction: The google index was counting duplicate websites, thus the original count of over 1,500).  Everything from local college newspapers to campus radio and TV stations are listed.  It’s really cool…try it out and enter search terms like: “H1N1″ or “Campus Safety” to find out the campus buzz.

If you’re a brand manager or marketing professional you can now find out what the campus buzz is about your product or service by entering the name of your brand in the search field.

On September 14, 2009, in Uncategorized, by Ben

Since June 2009, College students, parents, administrators, faculty, higher education reporters and members of the college media have made up the over more than 3,000 subscribers of the new The Campus Buzz (TCB) college news service.  Our subscriber base continues to rise at a rate of over 10 new each day.  Just last month, The Campus Buzz’s linked content was clicked on over 9,000 times, sending a sizable amount of traffic to our content partner’s websites and proving the quality of the information we’re distributing.

An editorial staff comprised completely of college students is to thank.  Our staff scours the web each day in search of invaluable news, advice and information for their peers throughout the nation.  Their dedication and intelligence is what make’s our service so great.  They are an extremely diverse and talented group of  students from across the country that represent the collegiate landscape very well.

With 10 distinct news channels, subscribers can select the college related news that interests them most, absolutely free.  They can also choose from a number of different subscription methods including RSS, Email, Twitter, Facebook (App and Fan Page), and Friendfeed.  Website administrators can also syndicate The Campus Buzz content on their website by customizing and installing a TCB widget.

We also unveiled our initial plans to maintain fiscal sustainability.  Our business suite of offerings is the beta version of our revenue generation plan.  Customers have already seen wonderful results with our services and we will certainly be sharing their case studies in the near future.

This is just the beginning, we’re enjoying the early successes, overcoming challenges and looking forward to the future.  Thank you to all of our loyal subscribers that enjoy and share our content each day!

What they’re saying:

“The Campus Buzz is an excellent resource for college students and faculty.  The financial aid updates have been especially valuable for students,” — Dr. Diane Howard, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Professor.

“Having just finished my first year of college, I want to thank [The Campus Buzz] for providing relevant and useful insight into college life. Reading your articles would have been extremely helpful for me last August as I blindly prepared for my Freshman year. Even now, your tips on jobs, money, and my generation at large are very interesting. I am impressed by the wide range of sources for your articles; The Campus Buzz seems to be the true hub for college news.” — Lauren, Tufts University Sophomore
